Le livre de Sved a reçu un accueil chaleureux de René Char : Ğ . Un beau livre. L intelligence et l amour en élèvent la lyre. Soyez remerciée ! Ce n est pas tous les ans qu un tel miracle a lieu ! ğ.___Indications sur l auteur : Etienne Sved naît en 1914 en Hongrie, sous le nom de Süsz István. Refusé à l école des Beaux-Arts parce qu il est juif, il intègre en 1930 l Atelier, une école de graphisme que fondent à Budapest des professeurs du Bauhaus qui ont fui l Allemagne Nazie. Cette formation lui permet de travailler comme concepteur publicitaire et de s illustrer rapidement en remportant plusieurs concours d affiches internationaux, parmi lesquels celui du congrès eucharistique de Budapest en 1936. Installé en France après la Seconde Guerre mondiale, Étienne Sved y prolonge sa démarche photographique tout en menant avec succès sa carrière de graphiste publicitaire. Signé par l auteur.

Betty Lark-Horovitz (1894-1995) was an accomplished graphic artist. She was commissioned to do etchings of several buildings at Purdue University in 1930. There were only 100 sets, each numbered and signed by the artist. That same year her engraved views of American cities and views With graver and woodblock over American Highways, was published. ( New York: William Edwin Rudge, 1930.) She was a master of both architectural views as well as views of flora. Betty was the wife of Dr. Karl Lark-Horovitz who was the head of the Department of Physics at Purdue from 1929 to the 1950s. After his death in 1958, she moved to Berkeley, CA. These wood-engravings depict the flora in the Berkeley Hills.Provenance: From the estate of the artist .
