Blue paper covers presumably type set by the Curwen Press given the recognisable borders. The rear cover features a simple letterpress London Transport Roundel. Very minor sunning is visible to the extremiti…es and the text block is clean bar very minor occasional spotting. Very Good. Untraceable in the British Library Catalogue, or WolrdCat, this is a very scarce and interesting employment pamphlet given to new employees of the London Underground. It starts with a page that is a facsimile of a letter written by the General Manager (Operations) a Mr Thomas, and he starts by saying that he wrote this little book to imagine what it would be like if any employee were having a chat with him in his office. The pamphlet continues by going through expectations of courtesy to the passengers, and good time keeping, but also explains the benefits of working for the London Transport Service, including where hot food can be found at canteens for a modest cost, recreation such as billiards, and staff societies, as well as the Pennyfare magazine, a staff magazine that seems to have run until 1947. The pamphlet also expresses that there are sick clubs available for a modest price, implying publication before the NHS's creation.
