Inscribed copy of the second collection of poems--lyrical, formal, rather mannered--by the prolific but largely forgotten author of such novels as The Asiatics and The Seven Who Fled. First edition. Octavo (6 x 8.75 in.); 50pp.; patterened- paper boards backed with black cloth. Signed and inscribed by Prokosch on the front free endpaper. Near fine, with light shelfwear and some very minor splitting to the board paper at the corners. In a good only jacket with chips, splash marks, and an internally tape-repaired closed tear at head of front panel. Original "5s. net" price still present at base of front flap. Signed by Author(s).

Number 9 from a limited edition of 55 copies, signed by the author on the limitation page, and including a bound-in leaf from the original manuscript (this copy, "Ode"). Spine sunned (though gilt remains bright); faint dampstain along bottom edge of boards and prelims, with slight wrinkle throughout text block, but nowhere affecting the text itself. Sold as is.

Frederic Prokosch (May 17, 1906 - June 2, 1989) was an American writer, known for his novels, poetry, memoirs and criticism.
