Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. 1st Edition. A very presentable bright copy of this very scarce first impression. The black cloth boards look to be clean with clear title lettering to the spine. The pages are clean throughout, albeit somewhat toned, especially so to the page block edge and the end papers. There are some ex-library stamps to the front and rear paste downs and free end papers for "Central Libraries, Victoria Street, Grimsby, 6d Per Week" and some names written in biro towards the top edge of the ffep. (probably therefore names of the lenders.) There are no further stamps or library wallets/markings beyond this, so actually, the overall effect isn't too bad at all. The dust jacket is still bright and colourful and not price clipped, although with some slight edge wear, creases and chipping. The top and bottom edges have been reinforced with brown paper tape on the inside of the jacket, which actually seems to have helped preserve it rather effectively. There is a little toning to the mainly white areas at of the back cover. The inner flaps, front and rear, have been selotaped down to the paste down with a small single piece of tape. This has yellowed, but could almost certainly be removed with care should the customer wish to take that task on. Personally I would choose to leave it as it is to avoid any risk of damage, considering how insconspicuous it is. In all a pretty good copy.
