First edition. Signed and inscribed by the author to the title page, dated June 13th 1895. A collection of three short stories, with titles: Mildred Lawson, John Norton, and Agnes Lahens. Written by George Augustus Moore, an Irish novelist, short-story writer, poet, art critic, memoirist and dramatist. As a naturalistic writer, he was amongst the first English-language authors to absorb the lessons of the French realists, and was particularly influenced by the works of Emile Zola. In the original full cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Light fading to the spine with the odd small mark to the boards. Hinges starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot and light age toning to the extremities. Author's ink inscription to the title page. Good. signed by author. book.
