The printed letter acknowledges congratulations on the award of the 1960 Nobel Prize for Medicine to Macfarlane Burnet. Burnet has written in ink "Dear General Clyne" and signed "Yours sincerely F M Burnet". Frank Macfarlane Burnet shared the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1960 with Peter Medawar "for discovery of acquired immunological tolerance." General Clyne was Andrew Jack Clyne. In 1960 he was "appointed by the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps as their next director general of medical services. He served in this role from 1960 to 1967.
