Tirage limité à 430 exemplaires sur vélin (les 15 premiers sur vélin de Renage); celui-ci n°292. Frontispice gravé signé d'André Masson: une si…lhouette humaine tremblante, brisée, semble n'avoir qu'à se pencher pour cueillir sa proverbiale inaccessible étoile (simplement le soleil?) qui n'en paraît pas moins devoir lui demeurer inaccessible, mirage né d'une perspective trompeuse. "Jacques Dupin ne saurait être ni découvert ni proposé à l'attention des guetteurs de l'imperturbable continent. Tout de suite on a accordé à ses poèmes l'importance que l'on aurait justement refusée aux confidences d'un simple mal d'enfance, Jacques Dupin paraît avec un corps bien à lui et une révélation non moins personnelle" (René Char). Le poète Jacques Dupin (1927-2012) fut, de fait, considéré comme l'héritier naturel de René Char, avant d'emprunter des voies plus raboteuses, auxquelles l'avaient préparé, peut-être, une enfance peu commune passée au contact des pensionnaires de son père, directeur d'un asile psychiatrique. Particulièrement introduit dans le monde de l'art, Dupin fut en outre le biographe officiel de Miró, rencontré en 1954. Son influence a perduré jusqu'à aujourd'hui, ses poèmes ayant, par exemple, été traduits en anglais par Paul Auster. Bel exemplaire. Premier plat et dos passés.
