A fictional story about four men and their conversations with one another. One of these men, Owen North, is the narrator and recounts his time during the Civil War as a physician. Silas Weir Mitchell (1829-1914) was an American physician and writer who is credited with discovering causalgia and erythromelalgia. Book found in the Bibliography of American Literature (BAL), no. 14148.
