    Condition: Good. 1908. No Edition Remarks. 543 pages. No dust jacket. Green cloth covered boards. Pages have mild tanning and foxing throughout, moderate at end-papers, paste-downs and text-block edges. Minor pencil marking to front free end-paper. Some occasional mild cracking to gutters throughout, binding remains reasonably firm. Boards have mild edge-wear with slight rubbing to surfaces. Mild crushing to spine ends. Book has a slight forward lean. Gilt lettering is darkened.

    William Heinemann. 1902. First edition, thus. Bound in full green crushed morocco gilt by Ramages. Very professionally rebacked with original spine laid down, almost invisibly repaired. Marbled endpapers, gilt inner dentelles, all edges of pages gilt. Sepia portrait frontis with tissue guard plus 4 coloured plates. Edges of boards rubbed, spine sunned, boards slightly marked. Prelims foxed, pages browned otherwise a very clean and sound copy.
