Published in 1948, the book recounts the humorous and heartwarming stories of their childhood in a family of twelve children. Their parents, Frank Bunker Gilbreth and Lillian Moller Gilbreth, were efficiency experts who applied their principles to managing their large family. The title comes from one of Frank Sr.'s favorite jokes: when people would ask how he managed to have so many children, he'd reply, "They come cheaper by the dozen.

Side and lower external page edges are age-darkened, lightly soiled in general and with several small stains. Previous owner's information on front paste-down. Light and intermittent smudges in text margins. Text block is sound. Dust jacket is soiled overall, more obvious against the white backgrounds. Spine and extremities are sunned.
