Over opening to last gutter. Spotting to last leaf. Slight darkening, light bumping, and wear to edges of rubbed and lightly scratched rear board with bumping to forecorners resulting in slight creasing and exposure to bottom forecorner. Light bumping and wear to edges, forecorners and spine ends of front board resulting in series of creases to board bottom corner with slightly more significant exposure. Dark abrasion along one crease at front board bottom corner. Series of small, faint dampstains with dark edges to center of front board bottom 1/3, along center of joint, and along fore edge. Cooper. Abel William Bahr (1877-1959) was born in Shanghai to a German father and a Chinese mother. In 1898 he established the Central Trading Company and became one of the most important collectors of Chinese art, organizing exhibitions with items from his own collection. This copy originally from the library of British artist, Alfred Egerton Cooper* (1883-1974), best known for his portrait painting of Sir Winston Churchill "Profile for Victory" which was later reproduced as a propaganda poster.
