Covers : heavy wear top/bottom of spine + corners, runs to raised bands else clean. Contents : inner hinges slightly tender, faint page browning else veryclean & tight & unfoxed. Clean tight copy. G+/VG cover & contents.

5 x 7 inches, 514pp. Bound in full green leather at the W.H. Smith bindery from a design by Douglas Cockerell with central cover diamond design with inlaid red flower petals and small white inlaid dots surrounding the initials "D.C.B.H." Spine with five raised bands, title to second compartment of spine. All edges gilt. Spine sunned, small repair to head of spine, some rubbing and bumps to edges of boards. Cockerell managed the WHS bindery from 1905 to 1914 and "[i]n a statement printed in G.D. Hobson - English Bindings of J.R. Abbey, p. 170, Cockerell notes that bindings signed with the ëWHS' stamp during this period were specially designed by him'Bookbinding in the British Isles.

1 f. (ca. 33 x 43 cm), on paper, in Latin. Official copy signed by the Apostolic Notary François Ramault of Ypres, dated 1642. Early document relating to the Flemish Recollect Province, founded 1629. - Folds with a hole in the central fold; edges slightly frayed. In good condition.
