Paper stock slightly tanned as usual. ***202 pages plus four pages of publisher's adverts at the back of the book. 178 mm x110 mm. ***First impression of the first UK paperback edition of this futurist novel by the Polish poet and novelist Jerzy Peterkiewicz. The hardcover edition published by Macmillan in 1966 had a very small print run, and this softcover edition, published in 1968, is also quite scarce, as sales were poor and many copies were apparently pulped. A nice collectable copy of this classic work of the 1960s - a collaboration between writer and artist. (N.B. Three narratives : the first "Surface" is set in distant future; the second "Underground" set in contemporary times and the third "Sky" goes back to the deepest past. A complex story with one part set in the mythical past, one on the Circle Line of the London Underground, and one in a horrific future. The author was a notable Polish poet and writer.

The wrapper has a full colour front panel designed by Souza. This book had a very small hardcover printing. There was a smaller format softcover published in 1968, this is also scarce as sales were poor and many copies were pulped .
