An association copy, of sorts, inscribed by Broadway actor Max Showalter on dedication page, on which the author mentions having been taken by his grandmother to his first Broadway show, "Knights of Song" -- Showalter's inscription notes this play to be "my first Broadway show - 51st St. Theatre, 1938"; Showalter played in the 1946 Broadway production of "Show Boat," which, like "Knights of Song," had lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II. Krueger was the Founder and President of the organization, which is dedicated to the native American art forms of the stage and screen musical. Program is signed "Best Wishes" by Krueger. Based on the best-selling 1926 novel by Edna Ferber. Dust jacket is now housed in a removable, clear archival protector.

Near fine bright copy with a trace of edge wear in a near fine dust jacket with a couple of very tiny tears and one 1Ó tear to the top edge at the front spine fold. Some of the songs in the production are, OlÕ Man River, CanÕt Help LovinÕ Dat Man, Make Believe, and Bill. Show Boat has been performed by the top of the musical theater world, including Irene Dunne, Shirley Jones, Joe E. Brown, Brock Peters, Andy Devine, Arthur Godfrey, Helen Noyes, Ruta Lee, etc. It has subsequently has been adapted into three film versions. Alan Young worked with the most famous talking horse, Mister Ed, one of the most beloved television shows of all time. He is also known for his role of Filby, opposite Rod Taylor in the classic film version of H.G. WellsÕ The Time Machine (1960) directed by George Pal, and has appeared in such motion pictures as Mr. Belvedere Goes to College, Aaron Slick from Punkin Crick, Androcles and the Lion, and has provided the voice for Scrooge McDuck for Walt Disney cartoon films. In 1952 Alan Young received two EmmyÕs for ÔThe Alan Young Show.Õ.
