Divisé en 19 chapitres et contenant significativement 47 "articles de foi", le livre décrit un phalanstère communiste inspiré par le matérialisme du XVIIIe siècle. C'est Théodore Dézamy (1808-1850) qui, parmi les Français, a été le plus loin à cette époque dans l'élaboration d'une doctrine communiste. Ancien instituteur de Vendée, surveillant de pensio…n à Paris, il devient le secrétaire de Cabet dont il s'éloigne en raison de la religiosité de ce dernier. Dans la Sainte famille, Marx écrit de Dézamy qu'il a « développé la doctrine du matérialisme en tant que doctrine de l'humanisme réel et comme à la base logique du communisme ». Dézamy pose comme base de toute organisation sociale les six principes suivants : le Bonheur, la Liberté, l'Egalité, la Fraternité, l'Unité et la Communauté qui est le mode d'association le plus naturel, le plus simple et le plus parfait. Il n' y a plus d'issue en dehors d'une triple communauté : communauté de propriétés, communauté de travail, communauté de l'éducation. Signature autographe de Dézamy au bas du feuillet de table. Brige fut un militant communiste français du milieu du XIXe siècle, influencé successivement par Fourier, Restif de la Bretonne, puis Babeuf et Buonarroti. Il publia deux ouvrages théoriques en 1839 et 1843, aujourd'hui oubliés, qui circulèrent néanmoins dans les milieux communistes et blanquistes jusqu'en 1848.À la fin des années 1830, il appartint au groupe oweniste-communiste de Jules et Désirée Gay, cosignant notamment en 1840 un message au Congrès socialiste anglais aux côtés de Flora Tristan. Il fut le premier rédacteur du journal La Fraternité fondé en 1845, et participa au mouvement des communistes matérialistes aux côtés de Coffineau et Dezamy, sans faire l'objet de poursuites lors de la répression de 1847 (Michel Cordillot in Dictionnaire Maitron).CABET (Étienne).
