Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -The main objective of this book is to investigate computationally-efficient and modulation format-flexible DSP algorithms for fibre channel impairment compensation and performance monitoring in PDM single-carrier coherent optical systems. Novel blind equalization scheme based on frequency domain block processing structure is proposed for PDM-QPSK and PDM-16-QAM systems with single-stage and two-stage convergence process, respectively. Then the combination of training-aided channel estimation and single-step multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) frequency domain equalization is presented and discussed. We further investigate the overhead-free training-aided equalization scheme by utilizing implicit training sequence which is carried using a small portion of the signal power. An OSNR monitoring technique based on the statistical moments of the equalized signals is then proposed for in-band OSNR estimation. Finally we address the issue of combining Nyquist matched filtering and linear channel impairment compensation in a single linear MIMO equalizer, which achieves the computationally-efficient receiver s DSP solution for Nyquist-WDM systems. 204 pp. Englisch.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - The continuous increase of the worldwide data trafficdemands new concepts for data transmission in theoptical fiber-based backbone networks. One promisingway to increase the capacity of the existing fiberinfrastructure is to use quadrature amplitudemodulation (QAM) in combination withpolarization-multiplexing and coherent detection. In this book all necessary algorithms are presentedthat are required for the realization of such asystem using digital signal processing at thereceiver. The main focus thereby lies on thealgorithms for polarization control and carrierrecovery. But also clock recovery, intermediatefrequency control and compensation of intersymbolinterference are considered. The performance of thealgorithms is studied in extensive simulations.Additionally the results of the real-timeimplementation of selected algorithms in a singlepolarization and a polarization-multiplexedsynchronous optical QPSK transmission system arepresented. Both systems are the worldwide first thatare realized with a real-time coherent digitalreceiver and standard DFB lasers.
