Add to basketCondition: Near Fine. A collection of documents and publications by Erwin Puls (1939-2003). Puls was a pupil of the artist Joseph Beuys, and later became known for his work with reproduced and found material, which often focused on the subjects of pornography and sexuality. Puls' work was shown by Kunsthalle Wien from 28 January… 29 March 2009 in a solo exhibition, accompanied by a catalog with essay by Dieter Schrage who co curated the exhibition with Thomas Miessgang. Puls was also documented in Michael Pilz's short documentary portrait, 'Für Erwin Puls', 2009. This collection includes groupings of various sized documents:1. Erwin Puls, Bogen 8, herbstpresse, Vienna, 1985. 308 x 233mm. Leporello paper book in A4 card folder. Attractive silkscreen half tone printing. Text in German. Signed 31/100. Condition: Light toning to envelope, internal large paper leporello in Near Fine condition.2. Erwin Puls, 'Puls: 'Der klarre blick, Das wahre wort' The clearer view, The true word)', Erwin Puls, Vienna, 1982. 490 x 350mm. 8pp. Folded newspaper, printed red and black on newsprint. Text in German. Complete with horoscopes and crossword, images printed throughout. Newspaper appears to be designed and screen printed by the artist. Condition: Folded but in Near Fine condition. 3. Erwin Puls, Moral Im Beserlpark: Gedanken zum Wiener Denkmalstreit (Morality in the Beserlpark: Thoughts on the Viennese monument dispute), herbstpresse. 210 x 145mm. 2pp. Stapled in printed wraps. Text in German. Together with a calling card for the artist. Condition: light foxing marks to covers and most of the pages.4. Erwin Puls, Im Herenzimmer, edition freibord, c.1984. 147 x 104mm. Postcard . Condition: Near Fine 5. Erwin Puls, 'Anonyme Naturaufnahme' (Anonymous nature recording), Edition Freibord / Archiv Puls, undated c.1987.157 x 222mm. Silver gelatin print mounted on green printed cardboard stand alone photo mount. Stamped and signed on verso 'Unikum' (unique - presumably an edition of 1). Condition: Some foxing to the mount board, silver gelatin print in Near Fine condition.6. Erwin Puls, Press clippings. Photocopied A4 documents sent by the artist to a gallerist including three copies of newspaper reviews, one that mentions porn in the headline, another that titles the artist 'the Sadist'. One of the other documents is a 2 page 1989 essay on the artist by Verena Schmid. Stapled two page legal charge from Bezirksanwaltschaft Zürich, which appears to be a prosecution taken against Puls by Andreas Niederhauser, relating to work shown in a Zurich gallery in 1989. Text in German. Condition: Near Fine.7. Erwin Puls, ohne Pause (without break), 4 page folded brochure. 233 x 155mm. Contains information on the film by Erwin Puls made from found erotic footage, with music by Björn Gärtner. The screenings took place at Das Literarische Quartier (The Literary Quarter) which was established in 1975 by the Kunstverein Wien. Together with postcard advert for a videotape of the piece by Puls and an order slip for the 60 min VHS. Text in German. Condition: Near Fine8. Erwin Puls, Im Herenzimmer, friebord, Wein, 1984. Book. 202 x 147 mm, unpaginated. Staple bound with green printed wraps and cut out window revealing pornographic image. Published as 'Freibord Sonderdruck Nr. 9', signed and numbered by the author (499/500 copies). Text in German, with b&w illustrations.
