Add to basketCondition: Fine condition. Edition 96 of 250 prints, signed by the artist. 1 vols. Image 19 x 15-1/2 inches, plus caption and margins; handsomely matted and framed to 32 x 25 inches overall. "Roland Clark's works are among the most sought after" states Siegel in his bibliography of The Derrydale Press. Two of Clark's paintings,…each depicting a single bird in its appropriate landscape, were issued in editions of 250 prints from 1937 through 1941; this print, "Dropping In" was the exception, as it shows a single goose in the foreground and a pair of geese in the middle distance as well. Echoing Siegel, Ordeman notes, "The Roland Clark waterfowl prints are among the most highly regarded of the works published by the Press, and they certainly are the best known of the Derrydale prints." Roland Clark (1874-1957) was one of America's finest sporting artists; his etchings, drypoints, aquatints, oils and watercolors are highly sought after, as are his four books, Stray Shots, Gunner's Dawn, Roland Clark's Etchings, and Pot Luck. He studied at The Art Student's League in New York, had a number of successful one-man shows, and won the 1938 Federal Duck Stamp Competition. The popularity of his work has remained undiminished over the years. AN EXTREMELY ATTRACTIVE WORK OF ART. Siegel 194-95; Ordeman, The Aquatints, Drypoints and Etchings of The Derrydale Press, pp. 29-31 1 vols. Image 19 x 15-1/2 inches, plus caption and margins; handsomely matted and framed to 32 x 25 inches overall Edition 96 of 250 prints, signed by the artist.

Signed by Russell on the half-title page. The limited edition was issued with a Silver Salmon print, signed and also numbered (10) by Russ. Accompanying this book is an original…colored pencil drawing by Russell Chatham showing a fly fisherman (Russ) in a row boat. The colored drawing measures 8 x 5 inches and it has Russ's Papermill Creek/Tomales Bay Monogram and the year (1977), which can be seen by the gunwale in the foreground. This same colored drawing was used as a black and white illustration in the 1978 first edition of Russ's book "Silent Seasons" on page 103, edited by Russell Chatham and published by E. P. Dutton. These essays and stories are among the finest outdoor/sporting themes published over the last 40 years. The book is bound in burgundy cloth with Russell's facsimile signature in gilt and date on the front cover and title on the spine. The book is kept in a matching burgundy slip case. Original art by Russ has become exceedingly scarce and this example showing him fishing is a fitting tribute to his skill and life-long passion. The book, slip case, and the original drawing in fine condition. Signed by Author.
