Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. First edition (1756) of volume 2 of Smollett's 7 volume series of world exploration. Contains histories of Mexico, Florida and Peru. Additional plates from the 2nd edition of Volume 4 are provided unbound. Condition of V.2 is Very Good: primary issue is the spine is beginning to crac…k but it is not loose. Hinges were repaired sometime in the distant past. Don't use it as a door hinge and it should be fine. Interior is excellent with the beautiful laid paper of the time. Some mild toning, no foxing. Paper is supple and text easily legible. Volume is complete with pages, plates and blanks. Front pastedown with elaborate book plate of Sir John Smith, Bart. (1744-1807). Paginates: blanks(2), title page, frontis, 288, blanks(2) with 7 plates, 2 folding. The page numbering is whack but text is complete and continuous. The additional plates from 2nd ed. vol. 4 (1766) come from a water damaged copy. There are 7 plates, 2 folding and the title page. See Hill 1590 for more info.
