Softcover. Condition: Very Good. Stated "First American Edition." Thick quarto. [viii], 1012pp. Contemporary calf, spine has raised bands boarded in gilt creating six compartments, the second compartment from the top has a red leather label decoratively lined in gilt with "Cruden's Concordance" in gilt. Boards and spine are worn…, particularly along the edges, corners bumped, bookplate of Abner Morse on the front pastedown and his name in large calligraphy on the front free endpaper, endpapers with some dampstaining along the margins, and scattered foxing throughout, all together a sound and very good copy. We believe this to have belonged to Rev. Abner Morse from Massachusetts, who was a prolific author of genealogical texts. Underneath his name he wrote "A.D. 1811," which would have been the year he turned 18. He graduated from Brown University in 1816 and went on to write many books and papers until his passing in 1865.
