Contemporary name written on free endapeperEndpapers and preliminary pages, including the title page are foxed. There is occasional foxing to the pages within the book. The pages and text-block remain in very good condition.

Spine is split down the middle, title label is faded, partially loose and with some tears. Some loss of the leather around the edges of the spine, and severely worn. Covers rubbed and worn, especially around edges. Significant foxing to the endpapers and the first and last few pages. Whilst there is some foxing throughout the book it is mild and sporadic. No loose pages. Some inscriptions and writing on the endpapers but all pages and tables seem clean and free of markings and annotations. Please enquire for photographs.

Fair copy of the 1846 16th edition. Full calf binding is poor with spine gone and front board separated, Text block is fine with very light toning and minor damp stains. 12 full page plates including the foldout map which is crimped along the edges. 451, 2 ads pages Location W37.

This new augmented and improved edition published 1900. 424pp., modest age browning and apparently professionally and attractively rebound in brown cloth, gilt. Very good condition.

Octavo, half black leather with brown cloth covered boards, front cover and spine attached to the rear cover but not to the text block which is in good order, illustrations, xii plus 348 pages (text), then xxxviii plus 308 pages (tables and explanation). The text block is in very good order with few stains or marks and would reward the attention of a binder. When published in 1831 it was offered for sale at 14 shillings. [QP].

Illustrative plates/maps have damp marks as grade of paper is different more prone to moisture absorbsion. Text is very clean. Binding very sound.

An octavo of 8 5/8 by 5 1/8 inches with the front joint and hinge worn through on the lower 5 inches which has been reinforced. The end sheets have numerous pencil notations and computations and the front paste down shows an early prior owner's name of Thomas Scolland. The frontispiece and several of the map plates have dampness stains. viii, 344pp, xliv, 356pp. Illustrated with a frontispiece and eight plates of either maps or navigational devices.
