Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - There has been an enormous increase in research activity aimed at elucidating the basis for cortical activity in the brain. Among modern techniques used in this area of scientific endeavour, few have proved as popular as computer simulation. Model neural networks are the subject of intense study, and some remarkable properties have already come to light: these networks are able to discriminate, remember and associate. Professor Cotterill has assembled leading experts in this burgeoning field to produce an exciting review of advances. The volume covers the creation of computer models of neural networks, and their use in the study of neural function, of cognition, memory and vision. The results and future directions explored here will have an important bearing on research into brain function, physiology, psychology, biophysics and artificial intelligence.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articlesavailable from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Laurent Itti(born December 12, 1970 in Tours, France) is a computationalneuroscientist. He received his MS in 'Image Processing' from the ÉcoleNationale Supérieure des Télécommunications de Paris in 1994, and a PhDin 'Computation and Neural Systems' from Caltech in 2000. He iscurrently an Associate Professor of Computer Science, Psychology, andNeuroscience at the University of Southern California, where he has beensince 2000. As a PhD student under the tutelage of Christof Koch, Ittideveloped a computer model that simulates brain mechanisms involved inthe deployment of visual attention. This so-called saliency model hasbeen cited as the most realistic and powerful model of its kind byhundreds of peer-reviewed publications. The software implementation ofthis model is part of the iLab Neuromorphic Vision Toolkit, which isfreely distributed under the GNU general public license.
