Pp 198 Caratteristica particolare di questa versione del famoso Galateo di monsignor Della Casa č la traduzione del trattato, scritto in italiano, in lingua latina. E la veste della traduzione: sulla pagina di sinistra il testo originale del Della Casa e a destra, in onore, la versione nobilitata dall uso della lingua latina. Pių che Della Casa, l'attenzione si pone su DANDINI, Ercole Francesco (Ancona 1695, Padova 1741). Di carattere austero e meditativo, il giovane D. si segnalō per la particolare diligenza che sapeva dimostrare negli studi e particolarmente nel greco e nel latino. In quest'ultima materia non aveva rivali: i suoi biografi narrano che proprio in questi primi anni romani il giovanissimo D., dopo aver tradotto il De Officiis in italiano, si divertisse a renderlo di nuovo in latino sorprendendo tutti per l'abilitā e la bravura dimostrata. A diciannove anni, dopo questi prestigiosi precedenti, iniziava gli studi di giurisprudenza con il celebre Vincenzo Gravina, al quale lo accumunava la grande passione per la lingua latina. Allievo e maestro si collocavano infatti in quell'area culturale filo latina che nel primo Settecento si contrapponeva alla diffusione del volgare, specialmente in determinati campi (diritto, medicina, storia ecc.). Il suo amore per la lingua latina lo portava a battersi a spada tratta contro ogni forma di volgarizzamento della lingua della giurisprudenza. Nel 1735 il D. fu chiamato a Padova per tenervi, nell'universitā la cattedra delle pandette e del codice giustinianeo, insegnamento che avrebbe conservato fino alla morte.
