no binding. Condition: very good. This 1877 print, titled "JEZZANO, IN THE BAY OF SPEZIA," depicts a serene coastal scene in the Italian town of Fezzano, located within the Bay of Spezia. The print, a detailed engraving , captures the town's picturesque setting with its buildings clustered along the shoreline, including a prominent church with a bell tower that stands out against the backdrop. The foreground features the bay with several small boats, including one with a large sail, suggesting maritime activity. The shoreline is rendered with meticulous detail, showing the transition from land to water, with figures visible along the edge, indicating human presence and daily life. The sky, filled with cloud-like patterns, adds depth and atmosphere to the composition, while the overall tonal quality of the print conveys a sense of tranquility and the natural beauty of the location. The title "JEZZANO, IN THE BAY OF SPEZIA" is clearly visible at the bottom, accurately identifying the subject depicted. Note that "Jezzano" is an older spelling of Fezzano, Italy.Approximate Image Size: 6 3/4 X 4 inches Approximate Overall Size: 6 1/2 X 9 inches CONDITION: Suitable Browning from age. Carrara is a city and comune in the province of Massa-Carrara Tuscany, Italy, famous for the white or blue-gray marble quarried there. It is on the Carrione river, some 100 km west-northwest of Florence. Its motto is Fortitudo mea in rota Latin for My force is in the wheel. Settlements in the area are known since the 9th century BC, when here the Apuan Ligures lived here. The current town originated from the borough built to house workers in the marble quarries created by the Romans after their conquest of Liguria in the early 2nd century BC. In the Middle Ages it was a Byzantine and Lombard possession, and then belonged to the bishops of Luni and the Malaspina family, turning itself into an autonomous commune in the early 13th century; during the struggle between Guelphs and Ghibellines, Carrara usually belonged to the latter party. The Bishops acquired it again in 1230, their rule ending in 1313, when the city was given in succession to the Republics of Pisa, Lucca and Florence. Later it was acquired by Gian Galeazzo Visconti of Milan.

Monterosso is a town and comune in the province of La Spezia, part of the region of Liguria (northern Italy). It is one of the five villages in Cinque Terre. The town is divided into two distinct parts: the old town and the new town. The two areas are divided by a single tunnel that caters to pedestrians and the very few cars in the town. The beach at Monterosso runs along most of the coast line and is well used by tourists and locals. The beach is the only extensive sand beach in the Cinque Terre. Monterosso is a small town that in the summer months is overrun by tourists.
