Assai difficile da reperirsi completa della bella pianta. 350 gr.

"This narrative, more than any other, gives us a correct idea of the last state of the colony of Saint Domingo before the insurrection" (Sabin 50571). "Médéric Louis Moreau de Saint-Méry, né en 1750 à Fort-Royal (Martinique), avocat, historien, franc-maçon, habitant de Saint-Domingue, publie en 1797 la Description de la partie française de Saint-Domingue . Il dénombre plusieurs divisions ethniques dans la colonie suivant les combinaisons des Blancs avec les Négro-africains : mulâtres, quarterons, métis, mamelouks, quarteronnés, sang-mêlés, marabouts, griffes et sacatras. Il fut chargé par le roi Louis XVI de parcourir les Antilles pour y rechercher les éléments d'un code colonial puis effectua un nouveau voyage à Paris pour publier ses textes juridiques, dont les six volumes des Loix et Constitutions des Colonies Françaises de l'Amérique sous le Vent, parus entre 1784 et 1790". Très bon exemplaire pour le texte, mouillures claires sur l'ensemble de l'atlas.
