Add to basket(Washington: The US War Department 1899). First Edition. A report on the quality of corned beef supplied to the troops in the field during recent military operations in Cuba and Porto Rico. The purpose of the report was to determine the if the beef furnished to the army was "wholesome and of good quality and to inquire with care into the allegation that it was treated with acids or chemicals by the contractors or others, or in any way deleterious to the health of the consumers". 65 pages. Bound in quarter red leather with gilt lettering to the spine. A VG+ copy (slightly faded to the spine). Photographs/scans available upon request.
