This book contains the text of eighty "nature-study" leaflets intended for use by teachers to instruct their students on the discipline of nature-study which is the practice of observing natural subjects (such as animals and the natural environment) and making logical conclusions from those observations. Nature-study is described herein as an academic discipline, that, while not a formal science, prepares students for more formal disciplines such as biology, physics, geology, and agriculture. The leaflets are organized into "Teachers' Leaflets" and "Children's Leaflets" and are authored by various contributors. The leaflets are brief essays or articles with informative descriptions about the natural world and its inhabitants. Some of the leaflets have suggested questions teachers can ask students to facilitate their studies.
