Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Corpse in Handcuffs; Frank A. Smith; MacMillan of Canada, Toronto; 1969; first Canadian edition; printed in Great Britain by Clarke, Doble & Brendon Ltd., Plymouth. Frank Smith was born in Canada and went to England at the age of six. At the age of 16 he went to work in Bletchley Park, the wartime station where enemy communications were being decoded with the aid of the famous Enigma machine. He began writing in the 1960s. The theme of the first five books, beginning with CORPSE IN HANDCUFFS, this book, was espionage in the Cold War years, but when that came to an end, he moved on to police procedurals. He is the author of the series of Chief Inspector Neil Paget mystery novels, including Stone Dead and Fatal Flaw, which was nominated for Best Crime Novel of the Year by the Canadian Crime Writers Association in 1996. He lives in British Columbia, Canada. This book, 176 pages, is in fine condition in a very good dust jacket, that is now in a protective mylar wrap. This is a beautiful copy of the author s very first book, and as noted, printed in Britain but published in Canada. An important book for anyone who collects Frank A. Smith.
