An inscribed first edition of this lecture on hallucinations by a French doctor who reviews the literature on the subject and then provides case studies, including one of demonic possession (p. 63?64). Bottex (1796?1849) published a number of studies on mental disease and insanity a…s well as treatises on syphilis and cholera. [1?5] 6?75 [76: blank]. First edition (first printing). A very good copy in the original wrappers with a dense geometric pattern printed in yellow and green with the text in black. The wrappers are curling at the outer edge and have short tears; the page edges are uncut. There is an oval ownership stamp of J. Falret on the front cover and on the title page. This is presentation copy to another doctor, signed A Bottex, along the top margin of the wrapper.
