A lovely example of "Microcalligraphy", done on a postal card postmarked September 1886 and addressed in ink to "Miss Rinnie[?] H. Seavits[?]" of North Parsonfield, Maine. The title of the transcribed work is "Custer at the Surrender". A note at the bottom reads, "There are now 1,708 words on this card with room for fifty more. This was copied from the "Southern Bivouac" of July 1885, and was merely done as an experiment. The Bivouac's published by B.F. Avery and Sons, Louisville, KY." Sadly, the transcriber has not recorded his (or her) name for posterity. Measures approx. 5.25" by 3" Very good. Light toning, minor dust soiling/staining.
