Very Good in Dustjacket. 9780312366698. Translated from the Swedish by Ebba Segerberg. 361 pages. hardcover. Jacket design by Jennifer Corrow. keywords: Mystery Sweden Translated. DESCRIPTION - Already a huge star in Europe and the Nordic countries, Kjell Eriksson has American critics also raving, with almost every review studded with words like 'stunning,' 'chilling,' 'suspenseful,' 'haunting,' and 'brilliant.' In THE DEMON OF DAKAR, Ann Lindell and her motley crew of colleagues are faced with a most baffling murder case in which all clues lead straight back to a popular local restaurant named Dakar. The owner, Slobodan Andersson, has some shady connections in his past, and his partner's reputation is equally murky. The kitchen crew is not above suspicion, either. The meat chef is an oddball, to say the least, while unbeknownst to the rest, the newest hire's personal life is a tangled web of lies. Even Eva Willman, the seemingly blameless older woman returning to the workforce as a waitress, has skeletons in her closet. And then the tension rachets up a number of notches as it becomes apparent that one murder has not satisfied the killer in the least. If Ann is to prevent a bloodbath at Restaurant Dakar, she must match wits with a killer whose motives are seemingly completely obscure. But the reader knows the killer well. His crimes are justified from his point of view. Not only that, he's a very likable fellow who is only looking for justice. As in all of Kjell Eriksson's compelling spellbinders, though, justice entails a frantic race to the finish, a race without rules and fraught with danger. inventory #27042.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Stated First Edition with Number Line to 1. Signed and inscribed by the author on the second front end paper ('To Simon, It reads better than it looks. Enjoy! Ed McCabe'). Very clean covers with very little wear (a crease at the bottom corner of the rear cover). The bottom of the spine is slightly cocked backward, but the book is very solidly bound, tight, no issues. The middle and bottom page edges have dust soiling but it doesn't affect the actual pages. The inside covers and first front and rear end papers are red. They don't have any soiling or wear. That continues throughout the book. I didn't see any soiling or wear on the pages. Nor are there any markings or attachments. And with the exception of the author's signed inscription, no one has written their name or anything else anywhere in the book. The dust jacket is very clean. There are no tears. It is NOT price-clipped. The only imperfections are a crease off the bottom corner of the front flap and a little crinkling at the top of the spine and rear cover. The dust jacket will be fitted with a protective cover. 'A first hand account of what it's like to drive the 8000 mile Paris/Dakar Rallye.' McCabe was the first American to drive an automobile in the Paris/Dakar Rallye. Inscribed by Author(s).
