First edition, remainder issue with binding from Houghton Mifflin (and author's name on spine). Published anonymously. Octavo, pp. [i-ii] iii-iv [1] 2-313 [314: blank] [note: fly leaf at front and rear]. Original light brown cloth, front panel stamped in black, spine panel in gold. First published by Osgood as part of its "Round-Robin Series" of novels by first-time authors, all of them presented anonymously. Acidic offsetting on endpapers from old dust wrapper, front inner hinge discreetly mended, a bright nearly fine copy. Uncommon, even in this issue. #315. $45. Novel set in contemporary New York City about a law-suit. The ghost is a no-show. Wright III, 854.
