First Edition
First edition, first printing. Inscribed by the author. Publisher's original blue cloth with gilt titles to the spine, in dustwrapper. A better than very good copy, the binding square and firm, the cloth a touch faded the the top edges. The contents, with three small, faint spots to the text block edges, are otherwise clean throughout and without previous owners' stamps or inscriptions. Complete with the lightly rubbed pictorial dustwrapper which has a small chip to the rear spine hinge, and a 3.5 cm closed tear to the top edge of the front panel, along with associated creasing, repaired to the reverse with a small piece of tape. Not price clipped (£4.95 to the front flap). Inscribed by the author in blue ink to the title page, reading "To Dale / with all good wishes, / Lynne Reid Banks / 1/5/77". This fictionalised biography of the Brontės by the author of The L Shaped Room and The Indian in the Cupboard takes the form of a novel rather than the more traditional non-fiction biography.
