Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. First Edition. A complete set of first printing Dark Tower volumes from the signed, limited editions, comprising all seven primary volumes plus both ancillary works for a total of nine titles in 12 volumes (including three, two-volume sets). This set assembled by the collector Tom Garner includes The Gunslinger (copy 75 of 500), The Drawing of the Three (719/850), The Waste Lands (1124/1250), Wizard and Glass (1124/1250), Wolves of the Calla (1124/1350), Song of Susannah (1124/1400), and The Dark Tower (1124/1500), along with The Little Sisters of Eluria (1124/1250) and The Wind Through the Keyhole (247/800). Each volume is signed by both Stephen King and its respective illustrator. Early in his career, King wrote The Gunslinger, a dark fantasy novel that didn't fit with his typical horror novels so he had it published by Donald M. Grant, a small genre press. The edition size was relatively small: 10,000 copies plus 500 signed, numbered books (plus extras reserved for the participants). The Gunslinger sold well and was reprinted despite rather poor distribution into bookstores. Over the next 40 years, King added to the story but continued to support his original publisher, who produced trade and these limited editions for each new book. The Dark Tower series remains one of the most sought-after of King's works. First editions (first printings, signed and numbered issues). Five volumes, including Wizard and Glass through The Dark Tower, plus The Wind Through the Keyhole, remain sealed in their original shrinkwrap. The Gunslinger, Drawing of the Three, and Waste Lands are in near fine condition with like dust jackets. The Gunslinger spine is a bit faded and the slipcase has a light two-inch stain near the spine; the slipcase for The Drawing of the Three has faded somewhat and is heavily spotted on one side. The Wastelands slipcase is near fine. The remaining slipcases are fine, as issued. The collector Tom Garner acquired the first three volumes along with several other early signed King books in the mid-1990s from an as yet unidentified bookseller. It appears that Tom took over the subscription for copy 1124 and acquired the remaining books as they came out. Stephen King asked to reduce the number of copies of "Wind" he had to sign, which is why the final volume number does not match?only 800 signed copies were produced. A nice complete set.
