Documentary film-maker and collector extraordinary, Jonathan Gili (1943-2004) was also a quirky small-press publisher who deployed his eye for design not only for books as grand as John Betjeman's Metro-Land (1977, with…lithographs by Glynn Boyd Harte) but also for calendars for his sometime school-friend David Game's group of tutorial colleges, founded in 1974. Latterly, he used his own artful photographs; his early calendars deployed a talented team of illustrators. These drawings by Peter Brookes were reproduced from The Sunday Times, The Times, Radio Times and The Listener.
