Add to basketCondition: Fine. CHAU3255? This is a superb opportunity to secure this large 10" x 8" hand signed photo for Fess Parker in his epic role as Davy Crockett who has personally autographed the souvenir where his signature rests perfectly accompanying his portrait - has surface marks that seem when published but these are only visible when held to the light - otherwise outstanding condition.". Disney was impressed by Fess Parker's portrayal of a man who was unswerving in his belief in what he saw despite the forces of authority against him. They asked him to drop by the Disney Studio. When he did, he brought his guitar, met Disney, sang a song, and then said goodbye. Several weeks later, Disney informed him that he had been selected over Arness and several others for the role.? Disney's three-episode version of Crockett depicted his exploits as a frontiersman, congressman, and tragic hero of the Alamo. The episodes have been called the first television miniseries, though the term had not yet been coined. Davy Crockett (195455) was a tremendous hit and led to a merchandising frenzy for coonskin caps and more.".…

Contact seller5-star sellerThis letter originates with the family of the recipient and has never before been publicly offered for sale?He sees preservation of ?the union of our great party - as the only hope of perpetuating the political doctrines and principles we profess.??On Democratic voters: ?Our people are emphatically Democratic, and the great body of them, as everywhere else, are honest, and I can never believe they will consent when properly informed, to separate themselves from the great body of the party, and permit the government by our unwise divisions to go into the hands of our enemies.?In 1835, James K. Polk was a U.S. congressman from Tennessee and, by the end of the year, became Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives. It was a pivotal year in his rise to national prominence. Polk, then 40, was a devoted political ally of President Andrew Jackson. Because of that close association, opponents sometimes called him ?Young Hickory,? after Jackson?s famous nickname, ?Old Hickory.?In Congress in 1835. Polk was already an influential Jacksonian Democrat. During the 23rd Congress he served as chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, putting him at the center of debates over federal finances, the national bank, and Jackson's economic program. He became Speaker of the House when the 24th Congress assembled on December 7, 1835. He defeated John Bell of Tennessee, a former Jackson supporter who had broken with the administration. Polk remained Speaker until 1839.He was deeply involved in Democratic politics, and in 1835 the Democratic Party was preparing for the 1836 presidential election. Polk strongly supported Jackson's chosen successor, Vice President Martin Van Buren, and worked to maintain Democratic unity in Tennessee and nationally. Tennessee politics mattered enormously to him. Polk was concerned with congressional races, newspapers, party organization, and the strength of Jacksonian Democrats throughout Tennessee. Consistent with this, this letter references Cave Johnson, a Jacksonian congressman from Tennessee and one of Polk's closest political allies; David Dickinson, a Jacksonian representative from Tennessee's 8th district in the 23rd Congress, serving from 1833 to March 1835. He did not seek another term; William Marshall Inge, who represented Tennessee's 10th district as a Jacksonian from 1833 to March 1835. Inge retired rather than seeking another term; and Davy Crockett, the famous frontiersman and congressman. By this point Crockett had broken politically with Andrew Jackson. He represented Tennessee's 12th district and was seeking reelection in 1835, but Adam Huntsman, the Jacksonian candidate, defeated him. Hugh Lawson White was a prominent Tennessee politician, U.S. senator, and presidential candidate in the election of 1836. White's candidacy threatened to split the political movement that Polk supported.George Wolf was a Democrat and had served as Pennsylvania governor since 1829. In 1835 the Pennsylvania Democrats split over his attempt to win another term. Henry Augustus Philip Muhlenberg was a Pennsylvania Democrat whose supporters opposed Wolf?s renomination. The factions became popularly known as the ?Wolves? and the ?Mules.? Both Wolf and Muhlenberg eventually ran for governor, splitting the Democratic vote and allowing Anti-Masonic candidate Joseph Ritner to win. Polk was worried that the Wolf?Muhlenberg Democratic schism would damage the national Jackson/Van Buren organization. ?The Union? was the Nashville Union, a Democratic newspaper established in 1835 specifically to represent the Jackson faction in Tennessee. Polk's request that the Andrew Beaumont, recipient of this letter, persuade Democratic newspapers to exchange copies to The Union was part of a concrete Jacksonian newspaper-organizing effort in 1835.Also, in August 1835, Davy Crockett, a Jackson / Polk antagonist who had broken with the administration over public land policy and openly opposed the Democratic organization in Tennessee, lost h.…
