Hardcover with Dust Jacket. Condition: Very Good-. Dust Jacket Condition: Fair. First Edition. 8vo. Pp. 270. Top edge dyed dark blue. Bound in blue cloth with a ship's wheel blindstamped on the front board, gilt lettering, a bit dulled, on spine. Lacking front free endpaper. Slight spotting along rear hinge; merest suggestion of spine lean. The price-clipped dust jacket is defective, with rear panel detached, light foxing overall, with rubbing and chips at head and tail of spine. Please see photos. Lohrke's novel follows the disparate lives of those aboard the Glamorland (one of the best ship names we've heard), culminating in the Titanic-like fate at the hands of an iceberg. Despite the umlaut in the author's last name, he was a Yank who served in the US military. The uncredited dust jacket illustration presents a sleek ocean liner cutting the sea, with a whimsical wisp belying the vessel's fate. The dust jacket is reproduced in HELLER and CHWAST, Jackets Required, p. 26. Dust jacket is now enclosed in a removable, clear archival sleeve.
