Front joint a little tender but no visible damage, binding solid. Notes on endpapers, PO's names on title pg, notes on rear blanks, list of poisons and a clipping on diptheria are pasted at the rear. Text clean and unmarked. Med/ Stax.

It is bound in work brown cloth with a gold company insignia on the front cover. This copy in worn boards with almost half the spine covering missing, a damp stain on the bottom margins not affecting the text, front end papers are missing and two of the recipes/formulas corrected in brown ink.

THE BURROUGHS APPARATUS IS EVIDENCE THAT BOTH DOCTORS AND SOME PHARMACEUTICAL MANUFACTURES WERE AWARE OF THE DAMAGE THAT HEAT CAN CAUSE TO DELICATE FLUID AND SOLID EXTRACTS. THE BROTHERS ESTIMATED THAT AS MUCH AS 50% OF THE THEN CURRENT LARGE MANUFACTURES USED DAMAGING STEAM-HEATED METALLIC SURFACES TO PROCESS THEIR EXTRACTS AND FLUIDS. FIRST EDITION.
