Nadine Gordimer in 1976 described Leroux as the most sweeping imaginative power in South African literature as a whole. According to Martin Seymour-Smith he is the leading Afrikaans novelist, gifted, disconcerting, difficult, over-cerebral.

There is a neat ink gift inscription to the ffep, but otherwise there are no ownership inscriptions or other markings of any kind. The dust jacket is unclipped (25s. net), and shows only the slightest edgewear. It is now protected in a removable mylar cover.
