    Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Norah Lofts writing as Peter Curtis. Signed on the front free endpaper "Inscribed with very best wishes, Norah Lofts." Green cloth slightly rubbed at corners and short inscription in a different hand on reverse of endpaper. Cloth and contents otherwise in very good bright condition. In a stunning dust jacket (unattributed), not price-clipped (15/- net) but rubbed and chipped to corners and spine ends. Very faint marks top left front and small ink mark top right of back cover. The novel was shortlisted for the Edgar Allan Poe award and was filmed by Hammer as The Witches (1966) with a screenplay by Nigel Kneale. The film is supposed to have influenced The Wicker Man.
