CAKE, Lu B. [Rev. Robert S. YOUNG]. THE DEVIL'S TEA-TABLE AND OTHER POEMS. NY: L.B. Cake, [1898]. 8vo., gray cloth, stamped in gilt; 195 pages. Young was a Methodist minister who ended up living in Otisville, NY. The title poem is about a rock formation, called The Devil's Tea-Table, overlooking the Great Muskingum River in Morgan County, Ohio. Some foolish people dynamited the rock formation in the 1930s, probably for fun. Cake's daughter, Dorothy Lena Young, was an assistant to famous magician Harry Houdini. Signed presentation from Young and Cake on the front endpaper: "From Lu B. Cake, and (Rev.) Robert S. Young. Memento of a pleasant meeting and treasured acquaintance. May 7th, 1907.Otisville, NY." Scarce, especially signed by the author. Very Good. $175.00.
