Cloth. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. First Edition. Hardback. First Edition. Shelf wear and a couple of small tears to edge of D/J. As the boundary between the two countries crosses the farm in which for more than a quarter of a century, Ronald Duncan has lived and worked, he is able to write with equal impartiality, critical or affectionate about both countries. Like all good topographers, Ronadl Duncan is as curious about people as he is about places. The wreckers and poachers figure here alongside the fifteenth-century splendours of the parish churches; the worthies of the past and present - Raleigh, Hawker of Mormenstow, Henry Williamson - side by side with prehistoric antiquities or present-day landscape beauties. Nor is the choice of people or places by any means a conventional one. Exmoor is appreciatively anatomised, but so too are the strange lunar qualities of the Cornish china-clay mines. Fine photographs reinforce the virtues of a book which, crammed as it is with facts, would nevertheless have been written only by Ronald Duncan. Illustrated. 191 pp. (We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social and Physical Sciences. academic and scholarly books and Modern First Editions ,and all types of Academic Literature.).
