In the spirit of non-Euclidian geometry in which geometry was expanded from its classical upbringing by challenging the Parallel postulate, so the author and his colleague Robert Katz have invented "Non -Linear" calculus. The first chapter is devoted to summarizing the foundations of Classical Calculus and how the simple manipulations still lead to valid additive and subtractive results. He then spends the rest of the book showing the nature of "Exponential Calculus" where the additive and subtractive laws do not necessarily follow. He also expands this idea in the preface to show that there are 8 distinct, "Non-Newtonian" calculi of which Exponential Calculus is one of them.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Second edition. Original papercovered boards with paper spine label. Label chipped with some loss, corners rubbed through, still a very good copy of a fragile volume. Scarce, especially in boards. All the records we can find for this title are described as for the second edition, and we are tempted to think that the first edition was marked by the publisher as the second edition in order to imply the success of the volume. Part II was published separately in 1828.
