Rear hinge starting. Scarce. very good Inscribed to Dr. Allan Ray Dafoe (the quintuplets doctor) on the front free endpaper by co-authors: W. E. Blatz, M. W. Charles, M. I. Fletcher, A. L. Harris, M. Mason, and D. A. Millichamp. The very best association copy of the book available!

Vintage 9.5 x 12.5-inch black-and-white photograph of Hersholt in a three-piece suit, posing in a hammock with the Dionne quintuplets, one of whom is playing with a telephone receiver, no place, January 1939. Inscribed at the lower left: "To the Patter Family, from their friend, 'Doc' Jean Hersholt." Near fine. Danish-born American actor; played the title role in "The Country Doctor" (1936) about the Dionne quintuplets; winner of a special Academy Award in 1949; Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Academy Award instituted in his honor.
