First UK edition of the author's third novel about the rise and fall of Manley Halliday, who some critics think is a possible stand-in for F. Scott Fitzgerald. Pale blue-gray cloth binding is sunned and a little soiled. Minor spine lean, but a very good copy in the outstanding price-intact dustwrapper. This is a striking image. It has some minor chipping, and is now protected.

Some tanning to the end papers. Other than that, this has no marks, the text block is firm. Slight;y abraded top of the binding, mainly back cover. Gilt titling bright.
