Condition: Good. 1930's: 1933/34 Public Liability insurance policy document & 2 all risks policies 1937; 20 items of correspondence primarily pertaining to legal matters including compensation obtaiong a liquor licence. There is also a copy 8pp typescript outlining the Duties of Manager Secretary signed by W.D. Goulding and others in 1938. 1940's: Signed typed resignation letter of Club Secretary/Manager; another letter from the same person 8 years later re taking his holidays and requesting an increase in pay which he comments he has not received for 10 years. Agenda for special meeting of the club committee in 1949. + a 2pp outline of the duties of Secretary/Manager. 1950's: About 43 items including invoices, financial notes, correspondence and a lot of notes and recordspertaining to catering at the club. 1960's: Circa 30 invoices on various letter heads of Dublin businesses from 1961-66 concerning supplies to the club. Among midcellaneous material Captains dinner payments, Special invitation tickets, voting papers for election of Vice-President and Hon. Treasurer.ordinary members committee 1953. This collection comprises 53 items: (1) The initial item is a draft mss.agreement in 1896 between Charles John Tegart 30, Windsor Road, Rathmines and Susan Rogers 21, Garville Avenue Rathgar for the purchase of 30, Windsor road for £640 & an annual rent of £5. (2) A draft agreement dated 1897 (with annotation & legal opinion handwritten in) between John Plunkett, a builder of Bray, Co.Wicklow and Charles John Tegart for 11, Floraville Terrace, Bray. Other adjacent houses 10 & 11are also mentioned. (3) A mss.document comprising correspondence between solicitors acting for Tegart that was drafted for counsel'sadvice outlines issues pertaining to the annual rent and the right to title tono.11.Floraville Tce. (4) A 4pp. mss. will of Florence O'Callaghan of 12, Castle Road, Dundalk bequeath's "all my estate in right title and interest in the land of Tullydonnell O'Callaghan now in possession of myself and my sisters to my sister Mary Anne O'Callaghan.and after her death to James Tegart of Bray.The will is dated 1908 & asolicitor has a note to the effect that Mary Anne died, 12th February, 1909. So James Tegart inherited the lands of Tullydonnell O'Callaghan. (5) James died awhile later and an Estate Valuation dated 9th of May 1908 by P.J. Byrne & Sons, Valuers, House and Estate Agents, Quinsboro' Road, Bray values 11, Florence Terrace at £814.(6) A mss.pedigree (family tree) of the Tegan family begins with Owen O'Callaghan Tegart who had two wives - Olivia Sterne and Miranda Greene traces the descendants during the latter half of the nineteeth century and first part of the 20th century. This seems to be dated 1913. (7) An original death certificate dated 21st September 1928 signed by Joseph Lynch Assistant Registrar of Births and Deaths for the Bray District issued at Bray Dispensary indicates the cause and circumstances of the death at Anne Tegan at the age of 75. (8) Eight receipts & share stock include among them receipts issued by Bray Urban District Council are for Rates, Poor Rate, Town and Harbour Rates & electricity during 1928/29& A 1929-47 5% War Stock. (9) Probate of the last will and Testament of Anna J. Tegart on 7/1/1929 is in a very neat, legible and tidy hand in ink and indicates that James was her father and the Tullydonnell lands are located in Armagh & provides material for further research into the links in the family pedigree. (10) An itemised Valuation by Byrne's Auctioneers, Bray of the furniture and effects of 11, Florence Terrace (11) A batch of 34 items of correspondence between January-April 1929 relating to the sale of 11 Florence Terrace includes correspondence from Eveline M. Bell of The Red House, Cheam, Surrey Executrix of Anna Tegart's will and letterheadeD notepaper of Byrne's auctioneers, Quinnsboro' Road, Bray & a document signed by Mr. Byrne. Condition: Bon. 1) 2 lettres tapuscrites signées in-8 de Paul Deloffre (arbitre et rapporteur près le tribunal de commerce de la Seine) datées du 16 janvier 1932 et du 25 juin 1932, à Victor Mercier (en sa qualité de président de la Société des Amis des Livres), 2) 2 lettres autographes signées (1 p. in-12 et 1 p. 1/2 in-12) de André-Charles Coppier, datées du 24 mars 1932 et du 26 mai 1932, à Victor Mercier, 3) 1 manuscrit autographe non signé de Léopold Carteret de 2 1/3 pp. in-8 sur papier à son en-tête, daté du 13 juin 1932, à propos du litige en question, avec biffures de la main de Victor Mercier, 4) le compte-rendu autographe non signé par Victor Mercier de la réunion du 25 mai 1932 de la Société des Amis des Livres (1 2/3 p.), 5) le brouillon autographe non signé d'une lettre du 14 juin 1932 de Victor Mercier à Paul Deloffre (3 2/3 pp. in-4), 6) copie ronéotypée du contrat entre André-Charles Coppier et Firmin Didot et Cie pour l'édition de "Les Eaux Fortes de Rembrandt" (4 1/2 pp. in-4), 7) copie ronéotypée des questions de André-Charles Coppier soumises à la Société (3 pp. in-4), 8) copie ronéotypée des questions de Firmin, Didot et Cie soumises à la Société (2 pp. 1/2 in-4). Intéressant ensemble de documents autour du conflit qui opposa André-Charles Coppier à l'éditeur Firmin-Didot après la parution de la troisième édition de ses "Eaux-fortes authentiques de Rembrandt", ouvrage dont il assura également également la direction artistique. Choqué de voir que l'éditeur avait publié, après le tirage des exemplaires de luxe, un bulletin de souscription annonçant des tirages inférieurs aux chiffres définis par contrat et à ceux effectivement tirés, Coppier demanda à l'éditeur d'insérer un rectificatif à la justification, principe accepté par Firmin-Didot mais qui, pour une histoire d'exemplaires de passe et d'exemplaires tirés en héliogravure, dégénéra en un conflit qui fut soumis à l'arbitrage du tribunal de commerce de la Seine. L'arbitre, Paul Deloffre, soumit donc, début 1932, une série de questions, émanant tant de Coppier que de Firmin-Didot, à la sagacité de plusieurs institutions, parmi lesquelles la Société des Amis des Livres, dont Victor Mercier, éminent bibliophile et alors président honoraire à la Cour de Cassation, se trouvait président après le décès de Henri Beraldi. Après un rendez-vous avec Coppier et deux relances de celui-ci, le "Président Mercier" sollicita l'avis des sociétaires de la Société des Amis des Livres ainsi que du libraire de la Société, Léopold Carteret, lequel était également son fournisseur favori de livres rares, avant de livrer sa longue réponse au juge-arbitre. Carteret consacrera plus tard deux pages à Victor Mercier ("parfait magistrat" et "grand biliophile") dans son "Trésor du Bibliophile" (I, pp. 48-50). Certains documents, et notamment le manuscrit de Carteret, sont rongés dans les marges.
