Numbered and signed by the artist on the colophon. Verso of envelope lightly scuffed. Cards fine in a near fine envelope. Number 162 of 250 sets numbered and signed by the artist. A series of postcards showing inanimate objects each in peril ("No. 1 Cup and Saucer in the Path of a Mechanical Insect," "No. 8 Stuffed Toy Being Trifled with by Fire-Tongs"), an affectionate reference to British artist Glen Baxter, author of FRUITS OF THE WORLD IN DANGER (1974). At the first American exhibition of Baxter's art, at the Gotham Book Mart in 1974, Gorey bought ten of his drawings and stated that his work ""betrays all the ominous symptoms of genius." MENACED OBJECTS is unique among Gorey's Dogear Wryde postcard series as the only one to number its contents in sequence. Toledano A96a.
