Dutton & Company, 1916, 141pp., good brown illustrated hardcover, spine a bit faded, but chipped at top of spine and worn around edges, previous owner's bookplate and white name label (recent vintage and plain white), and an older previous owner's name in ink. English author (born in India) who emigrated to Australia and wrote under the pseudonym Boyd Cable. - A journalist visits the British war industries and reports on their excellent work, with characteristic swipes at various ethnic groups, such as the "old-clo' Jew" who wanted to get some war work: "But the day's long past whe a man can hook a contract on the gamble of subcontracting it out, so our Jew misfired that lot" (42). - CONTENTS: Word to the Front - The Munition Machine - Sublime to the Sublime - Shells and More Shells - The Women - The Master Job - "Their Bit" - The Great "If".

What's known to the trade as "a reading copy," this volume is shelf worn at spine ends and board tips, with foxing, mostly confined to preliminary and terminal leaves. Some old tide lines.
