"Sybil" is Louis' mother, the playwright Sybil le Brocquy and "Anne" is Louis' wife, the artist Anne Madden. Kay Gimpel's father was from County Westmeath. Published shortly before his death, this was the last major piece of book-design by Liam Miller. With Typographical Note by Liam Miller. Dublin: Dolmen Press, November 1986. Bound in Irish linen lettered in gold and stamped on each side in a design by the artist. Housed in publisher's slipcase. The slipcase does have pen marks on two sides and is faded on one side (see photos). The book itself is in excellent condition. This edition consists of five hundred numbered copies signed by the artist, this is number 73. Dubliners was designed by Liam Miller. Text is composed in Monotype cuttin…g of the Joanna typeface designed by Eric Gill. The letterpress printing of the text was undertaken at the September Press (England) by Christopher Skelton and Alan Bultitude, who also supervised the lithographic printing of the illustrations. The paper is a white wove mouldmade rag sheet, gilt top edge, and the book is cased in full natural Irish lined lettered in gold and stamped on each side in a design by the artist. In a linen slipcase. Like new, apart from a little sunning to the edges of the slipcase. . . . .
