One ALS, undated, a full-page handwritten letter by André Dunoyer de Segonzac (the WWII Spitfire Mk V/IX pilot, not the painter, a possible relative), written in English, with photograph taken upon return from a Spring '44 mission. Photograph signed & captioned in his hand on the back. ALS signa…ture is printed at the top; photograph signature in script. Letter has folds, text slants on page, else VG or better. The 5.5" x 3.5" photograph does show an area of light discloration (see scan), probably produced in the development of the shot. Included in his handwritten account of his career: "A. de Segonzac 611 Squadron RAF Auxiliary Spitfires Summer 1943 Protected USAF Mitchells B 25 harassed by Ger. fighters over No. Holland on return from raid over N. Ger. Awarded DFC for participation in operation. Grateful Amer.crew men invited squadron to their base. Horror! It was dry base. All retired to local pubs. July 1944 Free French 329 Squadron (Escadrille de Cigognes)." Photo reverse inscription has 2 numeric errors, possibly due to his age when inscribed. Provenance provided to purchaser. LMILIT. Text in French. After Fernand Point's death in 1955, Madame Point continued their three star restaurant, La Pyramide in Vienne in the Rhone valley and maintained its high reputation. It was she who gathered material for this book and saw it through to original publication in 1969. The result is a work of tremendous influence in the gastronomic world. Inscribed by Marie-Louise ("Mado") Point to Metropolitan Opera pianist George Darden on the half title and with Darden's ownership signature on the front free endpaper. A copy of her NYT obituary is affixed to the front pastedown. Signed.
